This is because Microsofts Windows Media has no MPEG-2 Decoder (Direct Show
Filter) buit-in. And they even do not offer one via codec download :-(
So you must install a seperate mpeg2 codec or software player.
Almost every software DVD Player which can open files (not only DVD play) is
capable of playing the converted mpeg.
