Then again, we all have different needs. I also have to patch it since I use
the MESG feature, among other things,  to display the song name when playing
mp3's. In that case I need to disable the timeout alltogether, but only when
those mp3 messages are showing.
It's probably hard to satisfy all but of course a possiblity to change it at
runtime wouldn't hurt.
