Although i haven't tested your implementation yet (I'll do that soon), i
think it's a quite good idea and maybe the long awaited solution for
archiving and playing vdr recordings:
With the falling price of DVD-R devices and media we will soon be able to
create DVDs from VDR recordings, maybe without reencoding mpeg data and
maybe with ac3 recorded soundtrack, too.
Meanwhile we could create "mini-DVD" which is meant to be DVD Data and
structure (.vob files) on several CD-R Media.
Unfortunately almost any of todays DVD Players miss the feature of playing
mini-DVD (only very few players are able to) - so the "software" DVD Player
seems to be the ideal solution.
Besides an integration into vdr is nice, beacause you don't have to quit vdr
to start dvdplayer and maybe lose recordings on the second dvb-s card (or
something) or have the epg data to be build again and so on...
