I'm having some trouble getting started with my card here - any help anyone could give me will be very much appreciated!
I bought a Hauppauge DVB-s card (version 2.1), as well as a new LNB (Grundig twin universal), and have yet to get a picture out of the @^$@^( thing! I first tried to get it working under the windows software, just so I could check that it was all working before going to Linux. No luck there - the software supplied (v1.23b) worked, but failed to find any senders, although the level meter sometimes went up as high as 12dB. The version 2.08 software from the Hauppauge website refuses to start, giving me an error "BootARM failed". Sigh. OK, now over to Linux. I installed RH7.2 (Kernel 2.4.7), built a kernel with i2c installed, added DVB 0.9.3. The software compiled fine, and modules load ok too: -- Nov 27 19:51:29 localhost kernel: i2c-core.o: i2c core module Nov 27 19:51:29 localhost kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 Nov 27 19:51:29 localhost kernel: i2c-core.o: driver VES1893 DVB demodulator registered. I don't get any picture when I load the DVB modules. Also, using szap to tune fails: -- # szap -n 1 zapping to 'Das Erste': sat 0, frequency = 11837 MHz H, symbolrate 27500000, vpid = 0x0065, apid = 0x0066 tuning failed # -- I've been playing with this for about a week now, and don't know how I can further debug this - can anyone give me some tips? Tonight I installed the (new) signalstrength program from Johannes Stezenbach. It always reports negative dB (-14?), no matter what station I select with szap. I had thought that maybe I had a problem with my LNB or my dish, but I tried the PC at a friend's (who has a digital receiver), with the same results (that was under the windows software). I continue to receive analog satellite just fine... :) Oh yes - I'm pointed at Astra.
