Hi everybody, I just had a quick look over the saa7146-specs and wondered, why Techontrend chose this controller for their BUDGET-reference boards? As far as I understood this, the only thing this card does is forward the transport stream to the PCI-bus.
True, we need a I2C-controller to control the tuner-chip and maybe some kind of buffer between the tuner and the PCI-bus. But most of the functions of this controller can not be used at all: - audio processing - video processing (scaling, flip, clipping, dithering, vanity picture etc.) - audio i/o - D1 and DMSD2 interface Is it correct, that the chip gets the TS through the Data Expansion Bus Interface (DEBI)? If this is correct, a major part of the controller is not used at all! Don't you think, it would be cheaper to put a simple controller in place, which only supports I2C and DEBI? I'm just curious... ;) Thanks, Marc -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe linux-dvb" as subject.
