RedHat Linux 7.3, stock RedHat 2.4.18 kernel, Athlon 650MHz CPU. After using the old driver software with my Hauppauge DVB-T card for some months I decided it was time to investigate the "NEWSTRUCT" driver (now the default of course).
I downloaded the driver and dvbtools from CVS today and built them without problems. When doing a 'make insmod' to load the drivers I get the following in /var/log/messages: Oct 26 18:46:56 sodom kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 Oct 26 18:46:56 sodom kernel: dvb_register_adapter: registering new adapter (TT-Budget/WinTV-NOVA-T PCI). Oct 26 18:46:56 sodom kernel: AMD756: dev 1131:7146, router pirq : 1 get irq : 5 Oct 26 18:46:56 sodom kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:08.0 Oct 26 18:46:56 sodom kernel: saa7146_core.o: : bus:0, rev:1, mem:0xd1ecdc00. Oct 26 18:46:58 sodom kernel: dvb_frontend_init: initialising frontend 0:0 (Grundig 29504-401)... At this point the system CPU utilisation goes to 50% and the machine becomes very sluggish. A reboot is the only way to fix it. Since I don't have a Grundig frontend (or have I?) I tried hacking the makefiles to exclude this module, but although the CPU problem disappears dvbtune cannot find the card - I get FD 3: fd_dvr DEMUX DEVICE: : No such file or directory Grateful for any suggestions.
