Yes czap locks quite quickly. So I have to see if I have made
something go wrong with the VDR.

Would there be any gain in changing the timeout value for
DVB-C, because it does seem to go into zigzag quite quickly?

no, if czap can tune fine to all channels there is something wrong with your application. Please check if all parameters are set correctly.
