Hi everybody,
I'd like to disable tuning at driver initialisation (saves about 50
lines of code) and enable power management by default in the frontend
code (causes kdvb-fe not to run when frontend device is not opened).
This would mean that you can't see n-tv after module loading anymore and
that you can't watch TV when there is no application which keeps the
frontend device file descriptor open.
The good thing is that the frontend thread won't run when no application
requested tuning to a transponder and that the DVB cards are switched
off when they are not used (they won't get that hot and maybe live a
little longer).
The bad thing is that you explicitly have to disable power management
for networking over DVB (or run an application all the time which
processes frontend events;)
If anybody of you has some serious objections about this approach please
raise your voice now.
thanks,
Holger
