Maxim has been pretty cooperative in delivering samples in the past - or
more exactly, the German distributor Spezial-Elektronik.
That's why I ordered the Linear converters, so right now we'll use them. If Maxim improves availablility of their devices we can consider to use them in another project...
Do you know a company which could solder the chips on the PCB for decent prices? Maybe only the LT1940 (with underside GND metal plate) and the FX2 to save costs?PCB ~9-12 EUR + taxes and shipping (http://www.pcbpool.de)
Pretty decent stuff. I had them made a number of PCBs developed with Eagle
in the past. Quick and good quality.
