Hello Johannes,
I tried it with 2.4.20 and fixed some small oddities in CVS.
Ok, thanks. Yes, I'm a RedHat guy, sorry for that! ;-)
No. "xawtv" comes with it's own set of videodev.h, videodev2.h (old - pre-2.5.x-version) and videodev2.h (2.5.x version) header files and has modules for all three apis out there. So it should work.grabdisplay in xawtv (3.81) does not work, I get: ioctl: VIDIOC_DQBUF(index=0;type=VIDEO_CAPTURE;bytesused=0;flags=0x0 [];field=ANY;;timecode.type=0;timecode.flags=0;timecode.frames=0;timecode.seconds=0;timecode.minutes=0;timecode.hours=0;timecode.userbits="";sequence=0;memory=unknown): Input/output error My xawtv is a binary package from Debian unstable. Must I recompile with the new videodev.h for grabdisplay to work?
To say it again: "old" Video4Linux-1 applications should work unchanged through the compatibility layer (unless they try to be "clever"). Brand-new Video4Linux-2 applications (currently only "xawtv", I posted some patches for "alevt" and "nuvrec" on the corresponding mailing lists) should work, too.
Only pre-2.5.x Video4linux-2 applications need to be adopted and recompiled.
I'll test 3.81 asap and see if I have the same problems.
Please don't CC me, I read the list regularly. Thanks!Regards, Johannes
Btw:
Holger, I'd like to state again that some of the bugfixes for the av7110 from the last week might be lost. Could you please check this?
CU
Michael.
