There seems to be more than one way to skin this cat, because, acting
on  Dave Chapman's suggestion of a few weeks ago, I put '8192' as the
video PID in $HOME/.tzap/channels.conf on the line(s) corresponding to the
radio channel(s). After this,

     tzap CHANNEL_NAME ; dvbstream AUDIO_PID -o | xine stdin:/

works fine.
