How should I interpret this ^^^^^

Is my provider saying that it does NOT use inversion or is the driver
reporting it or is scan reporting it?

The inversion setting is not part of the NIT, thus it's hardcoded in scan. Change it there to INVERSION_AUTO or INVERSION_ON. On the long run we should read back the actual frontend setting, patches are welcome.
