as promised I had a look at your compile problems. I tried it with a plain (not -pre) 2.5.66, though.
make -f scripts/Makefile.build obj=drivers/media/common gcc -Wp,-MD,drivers/media/common/.saa7146_i2c.o.d -D__KERNEL__ -Iinclude -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=pentium2 -Iinclude/asm-i386/mach-default -fomit-frame-pointer -nostdinc -iwithprefix include -DMODULE -DKBUILD_BASENAME=saa7146_i2c -DKBUILD_MODNAME=saa7146 -c -o drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.o drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c: In function `saa7146_i2c_xfer': drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c:383: structure has no member named `data' drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c:385: structure has no member named `name' drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c: In function `saa7146_i2c_adapter_prepare': drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c:414: structure has no member named `name' drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.c:415: structure has no member named `data' make[3]: *** [drivers/media/common/saa7146_i2c.o] Error 1
I fixed two small problems in CVS, please try again. These fix the build problems for me, but I did not encounter your specific problem, though.
Perhaps you simply get a fresh CVS checkout, a plain 2.5.66 kernel, do "makelinks" and then try again.
