Do you mean when watching it on TV? Yes the channels change etc. If I switch 
it off/on then /var/log/messages reacts as if the USB device 
disconnected/connected.

 

The device is supposed to be in slave mode after
the module has loaded, so you shouldn't be able
to control it with the remote. Are you sure you
have the right version firmware in the right place,
default is version 2.15a and
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/dvb-ttusb-dec-2000t-2.15a.fw
