Don't forget the Linux Router Project distribution
(http://www.linuxrouter.org). This is a small footprint Linux distribution
which can boot off a single floppy and then run out of a RAM disk. I use a
4 MB SanDisk IDE flash drive as my boot media. I don't know about
installing LRP in ROM, but the 4MB SanDisks are only $56 at Bell
Microproducts. I run a handful of LRP boxes which do various things. The
latest is a webcam at: http://204.130.209.78
