        I missed the entire start of this issue, but...


        For systems that save no data/remote log (AKA my
LinuxRouters), booting from flash to a ramdrive is very nice.

        If you need to store data just fix the power.  One can always
use a PC104 system, for these you can get a small brick power supply
that expects 10 - 15 VDC input.

        You can fit an entire system, charger, power supply, etc into
somthing the size of a shoebox, and have 6 - 12 hours of standby power
(depending on CPU and drive choice).
