Looks like several here are building DOC systems for production - which probably
has no real connection to some specific distribution.

Some ideas I've had (but haven't tried yet) to automate the 'gold disk' image
build for Linux:

1. Install your favorite distribution on a host machine.
2. Create a partition for downloading the desired kernel to be shipped
3. Setup to ftp the kernel and X window and whatever-else you need
into this partition (Where are the best URLs? linuxhq.com ?
   xfree86.org ? others ?)
4. Create a 'gold disk' image partition - on floppy, DOC or HDD
5. Build a boot image from the downloaded kernel using specific
   configuration file
6. Copy just the files needed for the 'gold disk' to the 'gold disk'
partition (from a list of files created manually?)

Now, go forth and multiply the 'gold disk' (i.e. M-Systems gang programmer or
Floppy duplicator or HDD duplicator)

Is this a reasonable approach ? Has this been done?
Thanks,
Ralph
