This is what I did to ease pruning:
- Install RedHat4.1 on development host (about 117MB);
- copied this setup to NFS exported dir;
- built kernel for remote boot with NFS-root;
- boot client while monitoring NFS file requests (by snoop).
- using snoop's file list cut distribution to ~1.5MB compressed.
In my case I had to build distribution for remote boot of diskless
Java client, but as you see the above trick can be used for DOC
box as well.
