We use Sandisk CF on our system, but we got some problems with writing lots of
data
to the CF. We have a small database running on a writable partition. The file
system ( ext2 )
was corrupted after rebooting the system ( I/O Errors during kernel read(), see
earlier mails ).
Now i have done some duration tests with Sandisk CF and CF from Viking and
Pretec.
I'm writing and deleting at the same position on the CF while doing
inserts ind deletes to a database table, and rebooting after every 35.000
inserts.
The File System on the Sandisk CF was corrupted after 800.000 Insert/Delets
( I have tried it on 10 Flash Disks with the same Charge Numbers ).
The Viking and Pretec System are running on and on and have now 12.000.000
Inserts Delets
withot any problem.
I have told this behavior to our customer and to Sandisk, and i got some
flashdisks with
newer Charge Numbers. I have done the test again and until today no more
problems
have been occured. The Sandisk system has done about 3.500.000 Inserts and
Delets until now.
The Kernel 2.4 has a new Files System called JFFS, Journaling Flash File System,
perhaps this is another method to make a system stable, but i have nothing done
with this
until now.
