Another idea: just stick with pure Debian. These lab machines certainly won't need the "latest and greatest". Other than the updates, is there any reason *not* to use Debian? (Hmmm, just checked ... 'sarge' apparently is only up to fai-2.8.4 ...) Thanks for your comments, Thomas! -Kenneth
