Are you doing softupdates or only installations using FAI? Here, we did those things in 2 steps: First, upgrade fai-client to 3.x and update the fai.conf appropriately. Then, update sources.list to etch and run a softupdate. That was the way it worked (TM).
Currently we are not doing softupdates. It's on my todo list, but that has been there for long :)
I would like to do softupdates! Maybe I could fix my configspace so it works with softupdates.
