Dear list! I am trying to use FAI as build method for vservers, pretty much as described here:
http://faiwiki.informatik.uni-koeln.de/index.php/Using_FAI_to_set_up_VServers I am not sure if that manual has been updated for Etch becoming stable, but it appears to me, some steps described there should no longer be necessary, but packages in Etch should be good enough. (Hopefully.) For example, the fai build method has been integrated into the util-vserver package which is available in Etch already, obviously. So out of the box, I can try and create a vserver using -m fai as the build method. This works up to FAI_NFSROOT is /var/lib/vservers/fai/srv/fai/nfsroot/live/filesystem.dir FAI_DIR is /var/lib/vservers/fai/var/mnt/fai-config ERROR: Looks like you don't have the patched FAI. See http://faiwiki.informatik.uni-koeln.de/index.php/Using_FAI_as_a_vserver_build_method for information on where to get it. basically pointing back to the Wiki pages. This check is looing at /usr/sbin/fai for the word VIRTUAL in it. I have checked FAI 3.2.1, but no "VIRTUAL" in /usr/sbin/fai at all, so even the latest FAI 3.2.1 obviously does not qualify. But on the wiki pages referred to, I cannot find any patch for /usr/sbin/fai. Any pointers? Am I overlooking the obvious? Regards, Torsten
