Dear Thomas, and others another quirk to solve (if it hasn't been done so, i could not find it in the docs) with FAI and possible FAQ entry :)
On our system we have eth0 and eth1 ; however, the ipmi 'shares' the eth0 port. In reality, bringing up eth0 destroys the ipmi functionality. As you might understand , this interferes sometimes with my FAI usage. So, what i would need, is to use eth1 throughout the process of booting, mounting and installing. Is there an option to completely skip the eth0 port? Or to pin eth1 port? I have tried : ip=10.121.18.20:10.121.18.22:10.121.18.1:255.255.255.0:artemis:eth1:on ip=:::::eth0:off in LABEL live kernel vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-amd64 append initrd=initrd.img-2.6.26-2-amd64 ip=10.121.18.20:10.121.18.22:10.121.18.1:255.255.255.0:artemis:eth1:on ip=:::::eth0:off serial console=ttyS1,19200n8 root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=/attic/PXEBOOT/nfsroot boot=live FAI_FLAGS=verbose,sshd,createvt but this did not really help... other ideas evolve around the udev exclusions. Someone proposed a script to use the nfs on the dhcp-ed interface, but unfortunately, i run an local non-authoritive dhcpsserver (which is faster than the main dhcp server)and the main dhcpserver has all MACs so this did not work for me either .... now downloading the latest and greatest version from "deb http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/download lenny koeln" , maybe i can find something in there.
