I can confirm that with FAI 3.4.8, preserving the first partition (where windows is installed) worked well.
However I had other problems. For example the grub menu that is installed does not have windows. Also the edubuntu system that was installed is not the same as the one installed from the DVD (a lot of things are missing, in the menues, etc.) I realise that these may not be FAI problems at all, but rather the problem is that I don't know to configure it properly. But somehow this is also a problem related to FAI, because it should try to make it easy for me. I have spent a lot of time with FAI (much more than I had planned), and finally I am giving up. For 15-20 PCs that I want to install, probably it is much more efficient to do it manually than to struggle endlessly with FAI config.
