FAI startup with a test environment

Hello all,

I am a new user to FAI and want to use it for my project to automate a 
management system installation along with Debian os.
I am Ubuntu user and want to have a test environment for FAI to have 
some practical experience.
For my project I want to do an installation from CD/DVD.
Any suggestion for a test environment in Ubuntu? or I should use the 
ubuntu ppa package.
