Hm, good question. A quick search indicates that it's more complicated: http://askubuntu.com/questions/266429/error-file-grub-i386-pc-normal-mod-not-found look inside /boot/grub presence of i386-pc directory means this is a BIOS install presence of x86_64-efi directory would indicate an EFI install Perhaps check the grub version? But it sounds even more complicated if you have to take the EFI stuff into account. I have to admit I have no idea - sorry. Best regards, Andi
