This is a known problem, which is more a dracut problem than a FAI
problem. The fix is described in this posting of the debian bug:

Since I'm also the maintainer of dracut, I will think about adding a
patch to Debian's dracut version.

Thanks.  This solved the issue.  Hopefully there will be a fix soon, so 
that we don't have to fix this for each single PXE config.
