Yep, if you also edited /etc/fai/apt/sources.list to use xenial.
I have never used a Ubuntu nfsroot, and I do not know if this will
work. Maybe other FAI users can help?
I would use a Debian Jessie nfsroot, and create a xenial base
file. Then see what happens.
