Hi everyone. I've now got a basic heartbeat installation up and running with virtual ip address on a two node Tomcat cluster and it is basically just great!
Obviously, now that the basic failover is up and running, i'm looking to configure it just a little bit more. The default heartbeat config means that if the heartbeat daemon goes down, the dc node will switch and then the virtual ip address will point to the second Tomcat instance, and this obviously will include if a complete server dies. However, if I want to take an instance of Tomcat down for maintenance, I would still want the heartbeat to failover, while I upgrade, until I start Tomcat back up again, so i'm looking for something that would monitor Tomcat as well as just the node. I think ldirectord would do this, but do you have to install LVS as well? I looked at the Tomcat native resource but that appears to start and stop the Tomcat, which is not what I really need. Is ldirectord what I need? Thanks in advance.
