Is there any other way to set up a virtual ip without > using hb_gui? I had a similar problem on openSUSE 10.2. Check /etc/pam.d/hbmgmtd, and change pam_unix.so to pam_unix2.so. That fixed the problem for me on openSUSE, despite I just checked on SLES10 SP1, and I only have pam_unix.so there but is working.
