Andrew and clan,

It is not clear to me what the split-up implies exactly.

To users, hopefully there will be very little impact (beyond installing one or two extra packages).
If you mean why did we do it, I'll instead point you to our FAQ :-)

We use heartbeat and DRBD on openSUSE 10.3.
What is exactly necessary to migrate from the stubborn heartbeat to peacemaker ?

If you're using the crm, then its simply a matter of stopping the node and installing the new packages. You can even do a rolling upgrade since the over-the-wire formats are fully compatible (since they didn't change ;-)

There aren't even any configuration changes to make.

Pacemaker 0.6.0 packages essentially contain (just) the 2.1.3 Heartbeat CRM with some additional bug-fixes and support for OpenAIS. In fact, this will true of the whole 0.6.x series which will be released throughout the year (only with successively more bugfixes).

Hope that helps,
Andrew

As Alan was not responding last year, i guess i ask you.

There have been people asking for these in the past so I thought it worth mentioning that, as of yesterday, support for RHEL and CentOS has been added to the build service. We also recently got support for Debian Etch and Ubuntu 7.10 on x86_64.

The current list of supported targets for pre-compiled Heartbeat and Pacemaker packages is listed below.
You can read the full press release at:
