I have been working on and off on a simple 2 node cluster (v1
haresources style) for about 2 months. I have a good linux background
but mainly as a developer not a true system admin. We are currently
testing the cluster and hope to put it into production by April. It
will not receive a lot of traffic at first as we are weaning clients
off the old server onto the new cluster with an upgrade to the client
software which was required regardless of our cluster implementation.

Your manager needs understand that without direct experience in this
field it will take time emulse yourself into it to get comfortable
with it. Once you are finished if you are asked to do another one you
will already have a head start. Your manager should consider this
training for you. If this is mission critical and you need it now
then first off don't feel bad for yourself because that is just piss
poor planning on their part for them being in this situation. If they
need it NOW then they need to PAY the experts that live it and breathe
it.

v2 is more complicated than v1 so add some extra time for that. I did
not need v2 so I chose to go with v1.

best of luck

Doug
