this is a bug in you NTP server, however it's a common one.
do you mean the OS, or the NTP client? I've googled until my head hurts.....
my solution to this is to have the clients point at the individual boxes. the NTP protocol is designed to deal with multiple sources so it doesn't need to work through the VIP.
I have one IP resolving for ntp.mydomain.com: the virtual IP of the HA cluster. I could change this of course, but would prefer to fix the real problem - the response from the wrong IP
