Only modified files will be transferred, which should speed things up
a bit. The problem is, of course, making sure everything's bang up
to date. If you were only dealing with two nodes in the cluster I'd
suggest using DRBD.
Yeah, adding extra nodes and still using Open-Source software seems to
be an issue. It's times like this I wish I could program!
why not use NFS?
add plenty RAM into your web servers,
and nfs-mount the content from some NFS server (HA NFS DRBD Cluster?)
I use iSCSI target + initiator. All open source and it works well. The
software is stable and it allows you to work with multiple nodes. (HA
iSCSI DRBD Cluster).
