SOLVED.

Replacing the method to "power" works as expected on both old 1.2 and
new 2.0 devices. 

Not sure what is buggy, previous riloe which worked with "button"
or the new one which seems to need "power"?! 

Which is supposed to reboot the node regardless of the reset support?
