Hello everyone,

Standing in for Lars Ellenberg and as part of our duties as maintainers
of the Heartbeat code base, here is our schedule for the upcoming
Heartbeat 3.0.2 release.

[Please note: 3.0.2 will be the first "official" 3.0 release. We chose
3.0.2 to avoid versioning conflicts with Heartbeat packages in Fedora --
those were built from post-2.99 Mercurial snapshots and were numbered
3.0.0 and 3.0.1 respectively.]

December 8, 2009 -- feature freeze. As of 2300 UTC on that day, we would
ask those with push access to the dev, glue, and agents repositories on
hg.linux-ha.org to only push bug fixes to existing functionality, and to
refrain from adding features.

December 10, 2009 -- first RC. Tarballs will be announced here on the
mailing list.

December 16, 2009 -- second RC. After this date, we would ask committers
that all commits contain a reference to the Bugzilla entry that the
commit fixes.

This should give us a nice testing period over the end-of-year holidays.
During that period, we would ask everyone who can to give the RC
packages a spin and report back any issues you may encounter.

The more people test release candidates, the more confidence in
the new release we will all have, so please don't let your test
clusters idle!

January 12, 2009 -- Cluster Glue 1.0.1 release.

January 18, 2009 -- Heartbeat 3.0.2 and Resource Agents 1.0.1 release.
Feature freeze ends.

That is our current plan, and as plans go it might receive a few tweaks
and changes. If that happens, be gentle on us. :) You may take a look at
(or subscribe to) our release schedule calendar, which I've put up here:

As a side effect of the upcoming release, we will be doing some
long-overdue housekeeping in the Linux Foundation Bugzilla in the coming
weeks. So if some of you receive email notices for bugs you filed years
ago, please don't be surprised. Some of those bugs are long obsolete and
will just be marked WONTFIX.

Cheers,
Florian
