I'm revisiting the soundmodem setup after a long absence (and
reinstallation of my Linux system), and I'm encountering trouble.
I've got the soundmodem working well in DOS, so I know what settings I
ought to be using, and I've got a script that was working before, but
now I'm encountering a bit of difficulty when I try to 'up' the
interface.
First, a little background:
I'm running RedHat Linux 5.1, with my own 2.0.35 kernel. I built all
the appropriate modules and they seem to be loading correctly (except
that when I run 'lsmod,' I see that the soundmodem is listed next to
my eexpress module - I don't think it should be doing that). I can
use sethdlc to set up sm0 with the appropriate parameters, but when I
type 'ifconfig sm0 hw ax25 KB0PXK-1 up' I get 'SIOCSFLAGS: Operation
not supported by device'.
I've tried it after 'down'ing my eth0 interface and removing the
eexpress module, and it made no difference.
Any assistance or ideas as to what else I need to look at?
Thanks in advance.
