Hi,

Having got RedHat 5.2 and a nice new disk to use on my packet system I
have a problem when it comes to setting up kernel AX25.

I have built (and booted) kernel 2.0.36 with AX25 and NETROM modules and
Radio Interfaces (KISS and Z8530). I have obtained and installed
ax25-utils-2.1.42a.rpm and copied the config files from my existing
(working) AX25 setup to /etc/ax25, but each time I try and start
kissattach using commands like:

        /usr/sbin/kissattach /dev/ttyS0 1
or
        /usr/sbin/kissattach -i 44.131.95.1 /dev/ttyS0 1

I get the message:

kissattach: TIOCSETD: Invalid argument

I tried manually loading the ax25 module using:

        insmod ax25

lsmod shows it loaded, but I still get the error.

What else am I missing ??

Where can I find sample /etc/init.d/ script(s) for starting/stopping
AX25/NETROM ??

Also:

In my existing setup I use the 'dummy' network driver, but attempting to
configure the dummy network device on the new RedHat setup using:

ifconfig dummy <my_ip_address> mtu 576 up

gives:

SIOCSIFADDR: Operation not supported by device
SIOCSIFMTU: Operation not supported by device

What am I not doing correctly here ?

My existing Slackware based configuration doesn't use Kernel Modules for
AX25/NETROM or Ethernet, so am I not doing something I should be ??
