hfmodem with kernel 2.2.2 anyone?

I've got the hf modem driver modules loaded up, and have the
hfterm package compiled.  The spectral display seems to be working
ok, but I don't get any print monitoring rtty.  Is anyone on the
list using hfterm on RTTY (I intend on using it for pactor, but
figured rtty was the first thing to get running)?  Specifically,
does anyone have English instructions, and info on the proper
options for the Makefile?
