You do not have to fiddle around with the module-patch if your are
useing a kernel 2.0.35 or higher.

The german version of the AX.25-HOWTO on
http://www.ardos.de/gerd/axhowto.html covers your problems, it
includes the things you must know about kernels from 2.0.35 on.
Also, the versions of the other utilities (e.g. NetTools) and the links
to get them downloaded have been updated.
But it is written in German, hope that's no severe drawback for
you...
