This is getting WAY off-topic for linux-hams, but read the bug log on the
Debian site and you will see how I suggest dealing with this. Basically, I
propose declaring a new pseudo-package, "kernel-assembler," which will be
recommended by the "kernel-source" packages. For x86, the "bin86" package can
be flagged "Provides: kernel-assembler" and, for non-x86, either a dummy
package or any other platform-specific kernel-related package could be so
flagged "Provides: kernel-assembler."
This problem is a very frequently asked question, and it really should be
fixed. I have no idea whether my proposal would work with the Red Hat package
manager, but my main concern is Debian.
