You must stop the serial.o module using the serial port; soundmodem
controls it directly. Either "rmmod serial" (a bit drastic), or
"setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none", which will ask the serial driver to leave
that port alone. Then soundmodem can use it for PTT. Works here.
