echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ax25/ax0/ip_default_mode
echo 100 > /proc/sys/net/ax25/ax0/maximum_packet_length
ax0 would be the interface_name you want to change, judging from the line
above that would be 'hf' in your case.
To read the defaults of all the files in each interface directory use 'cat'.
This is all explaned in the AX25-HOWTO.
