AX25utils which Red Hat ?

I am about to set a computer as an ip router using the ax25utils and also
Tnos.
At a later date FBB may be added also.
What I would like to know is which version of Red Hat to use  Red Hat 5.2 or
Red Hat 4.2 with kernel 2.0.36.
At the moment I am inclined to using 4.2 with the 2.0.36 kernel.
