Greetings all I'm hoping someone can assist in my presenting the correct ampr.org address to the radio network when I masquerade my local network of machines. For historic reasons I have 3 ampr.org addresses on the one PC (due to them originally being 3 PCs!!) - these being JNOS as the radio interface (no - I don't wish to change this as the panacea for all ills), the convers and the DNS. The local network now runs under the standard 192.168.... class C addresses. I wish to masquerade as a 4th ampr.org address - this being my own (which is not assigned to any physical machine at present). Time for a diagram... Ŀ Linux Ŀ JNOS 44.131.161.10 44.131.161.230 X local 192.168.1.1 :0=44.131.161.1 intranet and what I'm running RedHat 4.2 Kernel version 2.0.35 ipfwadm-2.3.0-2 as supplied with RH 4.2 The problem is I can't get masquerade to appear as anything other than the Linux end of the pseudo-SLIP link to the JNOS. I've tried aliasing the address I wish to use (44.131.161.112) to the ethernet port, to the sl0 end of the point-to-point and even creating another SLIP device using slattach (sl1) but it fails (ie. no route). I've tried using the -W switch of ipfwadm to define the interface and I've tried using the -V switch to define the address but no go. Is there a kernel problem here or is the version of ipfwadm up the creek - or do I have to upgrade to 2.1.x and use chaining? BTW - if anyone knows a URL for info on using diald with masquerade I'd like it (for non-ham related activity) - can't find out what interface to point the masqerade stuff at!!
