It is real simple....if it is the same that has happened to me...
wrong HD parameters in the computer' setup....check that you have the 
right numbers where they belong...

I ran thru this when trying different distributions on the same 
computer and swapping HD's.

It may also be that you have declared 'out-of-sync' HD parameters 
in lilo's configuration file....check the numbers....

Hoping it is the same thing,
