Karl,

Even if you feel that Netrom is the way to go and all we need are users of
the network, there are those who are interested in doing things properly.
As a few very respectable people have pointed out, KISS cannot (easily)
make the most efficent use of the channel. In a highspeed enviroment things
start becomming more critical than I would care to have an "unkown" TNC
handling.

I have implemented KISS in a PIC16f84. Talking KISS is simple - channel
access is not! With all the the "brains" on the host side creating hardware
and trying channel access schemes becomes almost trival (famous last
words...) Even if you (Karl) are not interested in any such advances then
you surely must want data controller (they would no longer need to be
called Terminal Node Controllers) costing only a few dollars...

I'm all for a replacement of KISS. I would vote for something that would be
easy to implement on an async port.

PS - What is the current state of the AX.25? I see reference to Matthias
writting new code, but beyond that I don't know.
