Not tried much yet. I only use Linux for a HAM server and
ham compatibility is the most important thing for me in this case.
I do not use an office package or even a graphic desktop.
I don't think that linux is useful for office usage, but that's a personal
opinion I don't want to discuss in detail. But for routing and providing
TCP services on packet radio it's the one and only thing that really works.
Before I've tried Windows 98 with Flexnet, Personal Webserver
and also tried routing into my ethernet. It sucked completely beside
the fact that this is not a solution you can run officially for free.
Or try to run a ircd or a named :) No chance.
But on the client side of course we use flexnet with TCP/IP modules
and Windows. It's also not very easy to install because of hybrid
components and modules, but a friend has developed an installation
software so that it's to install very easy.
It's not on the net yet, because all the moudules which you have to
collect from several places are included directly in the installation
software.
If you only think about the *perfect* ax25-howto you can't expect
that everyone is able to install tcp/ip for packet radio. Unfortunately.
I hope it was not too much off-topic, but I think it's interesting for
all linux-hams whether most of non linux-users are able to
connect to the linux servers via tcp packet-radio.
