I have tried to get the PI2 card (and the PackeTwin) working properly on
anything better than a 286 for years. I went round and round with DOS/WIN95
with no luck. So I figured I would try Linux. Well, you guessed it, the cards
don't work properly with Linux either. I guess it's the so-called "DMA
problem". I wonder how many of these cards were sold. Better yet, how many are
actually being successfully used. Instead of spending time building a network
I have been banging my head against a wall trying to get the hardware working.
I guess the only reason I haven't given up yet is because I feel that without
advances in digital netwoks, ham radio will soon die.

OK, I feel better now. With kernel 2.0.36 and the PI driver (56k), the first
character of the recipient callsign is broken. I tried the dmascc driver and
get no receivable packets. Anybody have their dmascc_cfg parms for a PI2 card
available? (didn't see any sample parm files in the docs) I'm pretty sure I've
got them right. See my other post about dumping these cards for something that
really works.

Sorry for the rant, but I'd really like to get this stuff running and get some
other hams interested when they see web pages pop up on the screen faster than
their landline based system :-)
