Our local TCPIP club operated Field day the last two years using my call.  The first year, 1997, we operated QRP.  It's every man for himself; there are no QRP segments.  We operated 80 through 6, but 10 wasn't good that year.  40 was bad at night, and the other bands, the usual conditions.  It was difficult to get stations to come back to you.  Our concern, which was unwarranted, was that our batteries would discharge too rapidly.  With this in mind, last year we operated using 100 watts, still on battery power.  Of course with 100 watts you don't get a multiplier using batteries like you do on QRP.  Even then, we did better.  At least we were on a par with most of the other stations.
